Highlights of 2009

_In 2009, Galenica generated sales of CHF 2,911.2 million (+7.7%) and recorded consolidated net profit of CHF 210.4 million (+11.2%). Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) decreased by 14.6% to CHF 401.1 million, while earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased by 1.1% to CHF 266.1 million.

_In 2009, Galenica made huge investments to prepare for the future: two strategically important acquisitions were made to support future success with the Sun Store pharmacy chain and the pharmaceutical company OM Pharma. Furthermore, Vifor Pharma increased clinical development activities and expanded its own sales affiliates. The very positive results of the FAIR-HF study are an enormous first step of international importance indicating that Vifor Pharma is able to prove through clinical studies that Ferinject® is the best therapy for iron deficiency.
