The Vifor Pharma Business unit operates in a highly regulated international environment which requires the company to adhere to strict quality and safety requirements with regard to production processes. In Switzerland, Swissmedic monitors compliance with laws and standards. In the USA, this is the responsibility of the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), and in the EU, of the European Medicines Agency (EMA). Production sites are therefore regularly inspected by the authorities. The frequency of such audits depends on the product range.
In the Retail business sector, all Amavita, Sun Store and Coop Vitality pharmacies have established a quality management system (QMS) which considers all essential processes of the public pharmacies and environmental issues. Compliance with internal and external standards is monitored with regular quality audits as well as mystery purchases.
In Services, all companies have comprehensive quality management systems at their disposal. Alloga, Unione and Medifilm are ISO 9001 certified. The process management system at Galexis and G-Pharma is fully compliant with ISO 9001, but is not currently certified. The companies are nevertheless periodically assessed by the regional agencies for therapeutic products as part of the compliance check with the GDP guidelines. The management systems of all companies also include safety and environmental management that apply to all sites and employees.
